        <l xml:id="45880">I went home after my peck-axe and chisel,</l>
        <l xml:id="45890">when I got home my peck-axe was took bad</l>
        <l xml:id="45900">and my chisel had nine young ones,</l>

        <l xml:id="45920">I told her I would call another day and get her out;</l>

        <l xml:id="3140">I thought I'd get a peck of apples to make me a gooseberry pudding for Christmas,</l>
        <l xml:id="46010">when I got up the tree a man came along,</l>
        <l xml:id="46020">he asked me what I was up in the tree after.</l>
        <l xml:id="3140">I told him I only wanted a peck of apples to make me a gooseberry pudding for Christmas,</l>
        <l xml:id="46030">he said you come down or I'll fetch you down,</l>
        <l xml:id="46040">up he steps one side of the tree and I slipped down the other,</l>
        <l xml:id="46050">and away I tore across the orchard,</l>
        <l xml:id="46060">jest as I was getting over the hedge</l>
        <l xml:id="46070">he gave me such a kick on my rump,</l>
        <l xml:id="46080">kicked a hump up on to my shoulder</l>
